Hold On – Your Change Is Coming

“HOLD ON – YOUR CHANGE IS COMING”

A Sermon on Faithfulness and Endurance

Text: Galatians 6:9 – “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

INTRODUCTION

I want to talk to somebody today who’s tired.

Not sleepy tired. LIFE tired.

You’ve been praying the same prayer for ten years. You’ve been faithful on your job and faithful in this church and faithful in your home – and sometimes it looks like the crooked man is prospering and the righteous man is struggling. And you find yourself whispering late at night… “Lord, how long?”

Well – I came to tell you today, church – hold on. Your change is coming.

POINT ONE: FAITHFULNESS IS A LIFESTYLE, NOT A MOMENT

See, some folk want to be faithful when the choir is singing and the organ is playing and the Spirit is high. But God is looking for people who are faithful at 2 o’clock in the morning when the house is quiet and the tears won’t stop.

Daniel was faithful – in a lion’s den.

The three Hebrew boys were faithful – in a furnace.

Job was faithful – when he lost everything that mattered.

Faithfulness shows its real face under pressure. Gold proves itself pure in the fire. The same heat that destroys cheap metal reveals the value of what’s real.

God needs to see what you’re made of – and so do YOU.

POINT TWO: ENDURANCE IS WHAT CARRIES THE PROMISE ACROSS THE FINISH LINE

Somebody shout – “I’m a carrier!”

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5, “Tribulation worketh patience.” That word worketh – that’s a labor word. That means it’s being manufactured inside you right now. God is building something in your spirit through this season of suffering.

You are being STRETCHED – because God is getting ready to fill you with something bigger than you currently contain!

Think about a blacksmith working iron. He takes that raw metal – cold, stiff, unyielding – and he puts it in the fire. Then he pulls it out and he beats it. Over and over. Fire and hammer. Fire and hammer. And somebody standing at the door says, “That man is destroying that metal.” The blacksmith just smiles – because he knows what he’s making. Every strike of that hammer is shaping something on purpose.

Church – God is the blacksmith. You are the iron. And what looks like a beating is actually the making of a masterpiece.

POINT THREE: DUE SEASON IS REAL – BUT IT’S GOD’S CALENDAR, NOT YOURS

The text says “in DUE SEASON.” Not your season. Not the season you planned. God’s season.

A farmer plants in spring. He doesn’t run back to the field every hour demanding corn. He waters. He tends. He trusts the process – because he knows that seeds planted in good ground WILL produce a harvest.

Your prayers are seeds. Your faithfulness is seeds. Your worship on hard days – that’s seeds going into holy ground.

God doesn’t waste anything you sow in faith.

He said – “If you FAINT NOT.” That’s the only condition. Keep going. Keep praying. Keep praising. Keep serving. Keep showing up.

CLOSE: THE RUNNER AND THE RIBBON

I want to close with this picture.

A marathon runner – twenty-six miles in the summer heat. Mile eighteen, his legs are burning. Mile twenty-two, his lungs feel like fire. Mile twenty-four, everything in him wants to sit down on the side of the road.

But he sees something at mile twenty-six. A ribbon stretched across the road. A crowd on both sides cheering. And something rises up in his chest – something the pain couldn’t kill – and he RUNS through that ribbon.

Church – God already stretched your ribbon. The finish line is REAL. The reward is REAL.

Run through your tears. Run through your doubt. Run through your delay.

Hebrews 12:1 says run with ENDURANCE the race that is set before YOU.

Not somebody else’s race. YOUR race.

And when you get to the end – you will not be ashamed that you held on.
